The photography has proved a fair amount, although my fist cover wasn’t so bad but could have been improved by increasing contrast and brightness levels as well as a slight adjustment on the curve levels. On
my second cover there’s a more professional glow to the models face; This is all down to the LED lighting facilities in the studio, and also a little manipulation on Photoshop. The positions of the models are different the first cover model is positioned to the side leaning into the centre which engages the reader in a fairly forceful away. It looks as though the image should be jumping of the page but its held back by the cover lines. My second cover is more sophisticated, the model is positioned in the centre and is nicely balanced with more interacting cover lines, bold mast head, and banner at the bottom. Both covers use direct address effectively. This smiling and wells coming approach is more appropriate to the audience of the second cover. The first is directed to a similar aged audience, however, its not quite as niche as the second one in the way its directed to all students and not just Christians. This means for the first cover, an approach that is higher in attitude would be more attractive to the general audience. With the second cover a more friendly Christian approach would be better received by the target audience. Both covers have a strong use of colour, however the second is more effective with it as it repeats each colour in different places creating a consistent house style.
