Question 6- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Photoshop-

I was only very new to Photoshop when designing my webpage, as I practiced more and more with it, I became familiar with techniques, and ways to enhance every detail attractively. I experimented with contrast and brightness levels. This allowed me to make my images look smooth giving a professional father than ordinary glow to my models faces, with this I found the spot healing tool very useful. It was difficult to understand the use of layers at first, but after a while I learned to use them effectively. Through this I noticed that you can control what the viewer sees first, and show an order of significance. For example my model on the front cover is layer over the top of the mast head, I achieved this through using the magic wand tool.

Behind the scene-

I had also never taken photo’s in a properly set up studio, I really enjoyed playing with the lighting, find way to create the shine in the models eyes. While doing this I realised that props would be very useful. I found a wooden cross in the studio and used this as a picture for my double page spread. This was very useful considering my audience is Christian and this is very iconic for Christians.

Networking sites-

Before planning and designing this magazine I had no idea what Flickr and Blogger was. It was quite scary getting started on these media profiles. Once I did I realised its not so complicated. Most people my age and the age of my target audience would know what these networking sites are and maybe have there own. Creating these networking profiles help me to keep up to date with modern conventions.

There is a disadvantage to relying on these online based profiles. The disadvantage is that if the internet goes down, then we cant access our work. Particularly if the computers are slow. Also trusting in applications like Blogger can be risky as I have heard people have had difficulties with their Blog site have disappeared. I found it difficult to access my Blog site because I just kept forgetting my login, which isn’t good when you want to keep everything up to date.
